Introduction

The "Hotel Melanoma" moniker is a metaphor for living with my particular brand of cancer. Except for those lucky few of us deemed "cured", all we cancer survivors are guests of one of the many, many branded hotels in the "Hotel Carcinoma" chain. We can check out any time we like, but we can never leave. Meanwhile, let's be livin' it up; and please support cancer education, prevention, and treatment research.

Listen To Our Hearts

For all of you who are working so hard to make this a loud and proud Melanoma Awareness Month and kick the Black Beast’s butt, here’s my version of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ “Listen To Her Heart”…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHCq983d2Ik

We think we’re gonna make you go ‘way
With some money and our campaign
We keep thinkin' that with time it’s gonna change
But we know everything’s not okay

We’re gonna listen to our hearts
They’re gonna tell us what to do
We might need a lot of druggin'
But we don't need you

You want us to think that our cause is doomed
You want us to think it's over
But can't you see it don't matter what you do
Black C someday we will show cures

We’re gonna listen to our hearts
They’re gonna tell us what to do
We might need a lot of druggin'
But we don't need you

And you just can't keep up with fine cures
And you can't play your hand and seize my world
Seize my world

We’re gonna listen to our hearts
They’re gonna tell us what to do
We might need a lot of druggin'
But we don't need you
