Introduction

The "Hotel Melanoma" moniker is a metaphor for living with my particular brand of cancer. Except for those lucky few of us deemed "cured", all we cancer survivors are guests of one of the many, many branded hotels in the "Hotel Carcinoma" chain. We can check out any time we like, but we can never leave. Meanwhile, let's be livin' it up; and please support cancer education, prevention, and treatment research.

The Christmas Song

From Nat King Cole...

Tan nuts broasting on a UV pyre
Onc docs nipping at your toes
Drug trial perils being flung in the mire
And docs dressed up like Dr. No

Everybody knows some Yervoy and no scanner glow
Help to make the season bright
Tiny spots with their cells all a glow
Would make it hard to sleep tonight

We know that cancer's had its way
It's loaded lots of meds and medics on our pay
And every cancer trial is gonna try
To see if tumors really blow up and die

And so I'm offering this simple phrase
To mates whose cancer's got them blue
Although it's been said
Many times, many ways

Merry Christmas to you...

And so I'm offering this simple phrase
To mates whose cancer's got them blue
Although it's been said
Many times, many ways

Merry Christmas to you...
