Introduction

The "Hotel Melanoma" moniker is a metaphor for living with my particular brand of cancer. Except for those lucky few of us deemed "cured", all we cancer survivors are guests of one of the many, many branded hotels in the "Hotel Carcinoma" chain. We can check out any time we like, but we can never leave. Meanwhile, let's be livin' it up; and please support cancer education, prevention, and treatment research.

It's The Real Thing

It’s come to my attention that my blog posts (and lyrics) are a bit verbose for an age of Tweets and text messages. So I thought I’d try fracturing one of the most famous commercial jingles of the 70’s. Sing along, it’ll only take a minute of your time.

To the tune of “I’d Like To Buy The World A Coke”…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VM2eLhvsSM

I'd like to buy C world a home
And furnish it with love
No biopsies or IV trees
No snow white surgeon’s gloves.

I'd like to teach C world to sing
In perfect harmony
I'd like to fry Doc Oz the dope
And give him biopsy
That's the real thing.

I'd like to teach teen world to ‘screen
With perfect SP cream
I'd like to buy teen world a poke
And keep kids cancer-free
That's the real thing

What tan world wants today
(Melanoma)
It’s the real thing

What tan world wants today
(Melanoma)
It’s the real thing

I'd like to teach C world to sing
(Sing with me)
In perfect harmony
I'd like to make Mercola jokes
And keep him off TV
That's the real thing

I'd like to teach C world to sing
In perfect harmony
I'd like to buy the world a poke
And keep it salon-free
That's the real thing.

What tan world wants today
(Melanoma)
It’s the real thing

What tan world wants today
(Melanoma)
It’s the real thing
